Applications open: The 404 In(k)ternship

Inklings ALL 3D INSTA.jpg

After the success of our Crowdfunder to launch our new Inklings series, we have decided to use some of the additional funds to bring on a paid intern across summer 2021.

Our goal for this internship is for it to be genuinely useful to the successful applicant in their publishing journey, and we will align it with the books we’re currently working on (whether Inklings, backlist, or some tba 2022 delights) so they can see first-hand how the work filters through and shapes the final product.

As part of this, we are trying a new application process: as this is meant to be a first step - or early - step on the publishing ladder, instead of CVs and cover letters, we’re just asking three questions to get to know applicants and their feel for books on their own terms. Each question also comes with top tips on what might be useful to think about in answers.

As our final step to (hopefully!) demystify the publishing process and industry, while we are only able to take on one paid intern at present, we will be offering a mentoring Zoom (or equivalent) call to everyone we invite for interview, to discuss their career goals and offer our own advice and contacts where we can.

You can find more information on the role and how to apply at 404ink.com/jobs.
